About Us – TraceFREE™ Pipe Heating

Banner Engineering & Sales, Inc. was founded in 1959 by Joseph M. Day, P.E., to design and manufacture electric impedance pipe heating systems to heat carbon steel pipe. This technology, now trademarked TraceFREE™ was safe and attractive because it caused the pipe to become its own heating element. The TraceFREE™ systems provided close temperature control and a very even, low watt heat density that would not burn temperature sensitive products. Further, system maintenance is low and the systems lend themselves to automation.

The initial application was to heat pipe transporting heavy bunker fuel oils burned in the large automatic combustion systems produced by the Day Company. Since that time the basic concept has been extended to a wide range of products in a number of industries including the food processing and baking businesses. Applications include both carbon and stainless steel pipe and tubing with sizes ranging from the very small to largest sizes. Design temperatures range from simple freeze protection to 1400°F.
